I've just now come upon a self realization: with this new position, I am a more pleasant person. I know, I know - you're thinking "but Erin, you're so pleasant in the first place!" I have 2 responses to that: a) have you met me? and b) how many drinks did I have in your presence? Just kidding.
Really though, when I worked up front, my day was filled with interruptions. People coming in, phones ringing, emails to answer promptly. If I didn't write things down, I would quickly forget exactly what I was doing, or lose my train of thought. I would sit at my desk with my legs propped up, and the phone in my hand: more likely than not rolling my eyes at the student who went on and on and on and on...answering their questions, while sounding less than pleasant, but more than crass (or so I hope).
Now I have my own office. I have a door. I still answer calls, but mostly they are transferred to me, so I don't have to weed out the people I don't need to talk to with the minor questions or life stories that go on for 10 minutes. When I do talk to someone, I find myself providing them with more than enough information and telling them "if you need anything else, just call me back. I will be more than happy to help you." Man, what a difference a week makes!
My ovaries have become of concern again - more specifically the right one. I keep trying to tell myself it's all in my head - that there is nothing wrong. But, when I was feeling discomfort in February - 5 short months after my surgery - I was right; a new cyst was growing on that ovary. J applauded me with being so in tune with my body. So, since that time, I have been put on medication to stop ovulation and the cyst has been reabsorbed by my ovary (I wonder if ovaries are like Bounty - the quicker picker upper...they absorb lots!). But for the last 3 weeks, something just feels - off. It's uncomfortable again - I can actually feel my ovary. I'm trying to fight it and not tell J and to just let it be. But if it keeps on for much longer, it's going to have to get checked out. Why can't my ovaries just keep my eggs nice & comfy and not cause me problems?! I'm 26 years old without kids - I'm not supposed to be concerned about this stuff ): I'm starting to wish I had testicles.
