Long time, no blog

Sorry, it's been busy lately. I've been busy evading 2005 taxes, worrying about what would happen if there really was a warrant out for my arrest, soaking up the sun, trying to figure out what the flip to do about my car's lease coming to an end, trying to get the new kitty to like me and eating a whole quart of strawberries in about 20 minutes time. Do all those things account for the last 2 weeks of my life? Not so much, but it's a start.

So, I said in my last post that I would update all y'alls (Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?) about my pelvic issues. I met the awesomest (yep, awesomest) woman MD in arguably the continental United States. She is the head of the Pelvic Pain clinic at UM in Ann Arbor and she really knows her stuff! I will spare you the gory details of the exam, and just let you know that Dr. A hit the nail on the head. After 21 months of pelvic pain coming and going - lingering and disappearing - she was able to pinpoint my pain exactly. She was able to replicate it and boy was that tough! When she got to the actual problem area, the pain shot from a 3 to a 7 on the 1-10 scale. Sista' wasn't messin' around! Her theory is that the muscles of my pelvic floor (which I never knew I had...I hope it's pretty) are staying toned and not relaxing. Her recommendation to take care of that? Physical Therapy! At first I definitely thought it was a little odd. But after a consult with the PT and 1 session I am feeling great and have regained my optimism and faith in the medical profession. I am crossing my fingers, toes and anything else crossable that Dr. A has figured my problem out and that once my 6 weeks of PT ends, I will never utter another word about pelvic pain. Stay tuned!

I have been kind of anti-social lately, mostly because I am dirt poor, so it has given me quite some time for reflection. Oh, and some time to watch Season 9 of ER in it's entirety, but who's counting? Anyway, I have come to one conclusion that stands paramount in my thoughts: your truest friends aren't always who they think they are. I had one friend who I hung out with quite extensively in years passed; but mostly when she wasn't in a relationship. We had some great times and I valued her friendship immensely. But now that she is back in a relationship, I could count the number of months since we have hung out on 2 hands. She's just not the friend who I thought she was. You know, the kind who tells you you can watch tv at her house since you don't have cable, or sends you a text message of las maƱanitas on your birthday, or who picks you up after a disasterous night and doesn't ask you for every last detail. You know who you are girls :) It just stinks when a friendship isn't what you thought it was and you just throw the towel in. In life, no relationships should ever be one-sided. Ever.

I watched "Revolutionary Road" yesterday. I think it was the most depressing movie...ever. I put it right after "Fast Car" by Tracy Chapman and "Coming Around Again" by Carly Simon on my list of forms of entertainment that instantly depress me. Don't know those songs? Listen to them.

One final note: Jillian Michael's "The Shred"? Rough. Double dog rough.

Oh, and one other thing - in regard to the first paragraph and mentioning taxes & a warrant for my arrest? I never paid my $49 City of Flint taxes in 2005. After disregarding many letters they sent to me, I got a ticket in the mail telling me to appear in court. If I didn't appear in court, there would be a warrant out for my arrest. Although I would really like to have some sort of mug shot to add to my family portrait wall, I decided to evade the Genesee county jail. I am now a law abiding, tax paying citizen.
