A whole new world

This is my first official post written on my brand spanking new MacBook Pro.  Let me tell you, I don't know how to work this $1000+ piece of machinery but I already love it!  The style is amazing, and I love how the little apple lights up and the keyboard does too.  It will definitely take some getting used to, but I think within a week or so I will join the club of Mac lovers :)

Today is August 20th.  All day long I kept thinking that this day was significant, but I wasn't quite sure how so.  Was it someone's birthday?  Anniversary?  Did I do something special a year ago on this day?  Then it hit me:  today is 8 years since our Kristin passed away.  I feel somewhat bad, because the date did not hit me right away like it has in years past.  Each year has obviously gotten easier - I remember the first anniversary of her death and I was in Salamanca crying my eyes out at my host parent's house, alone.  Jamie (Peligrosa), my roommate came home early to support me - but the memories remain.  I love you Kristin.

My trip to Seguin came and went in a flash.  It's always such a letdown when you near the end of vacation.  You plan vacation for weeks and weeks with countdowns and preparations.  And then before you know it, it's come and gone.  My week in Texas went by faster than any vacation I think I've ever had.  But it was one filled with relaxation, plenty of swimming and family.  It seems like a vacation where you are completely in your comfort zone - and out of your house - goes by the fastest.  There were trying times - getting Chase to wind down at night, convincing Matthew to brush his teeth - but it was great all the same.  I will try to write more on that later.

I went to see the B-52's with my brother and the boys at DTE tonight.  He had free tickets from his work and it was a lot of fun.  It's cute to see my nephews like the music my brothers and I listened to when we were teenagers :)

It's time for bed.  My cats are still super clingy since I got home and I bought a brand new TV & DVD player for my bedroom, so I'm geeked to put that on and hop in for a good night's rest in my own bed without a 4 year old to sleep with me.  Said 4 year old lodged his foot into my shoulder one night on vacation - fun times.

Goodnight, y'all.
