Last Sunday was Super Bowl Sunday. Otherwise known as eat junk all day long and pretend to watch football. My family has never done anything extravagant for the day - we usually just get together and watch the game with food at my grandma's house. This year was no exception. Well, except for the fact that my mom and I are both on Weight Watchers.
So we packed the house with Subway subs, hummus, pita chips, tabbouli, salad, cupcakes (made with crushed pineapple rather than oil or eggs), etc aka things we could eat guilt free. But then there was the "other" stuff. Cheese ball, crackers, chunks of cheese (my weakness, completely), pickled bologna, devil's food cupcakes, ice cream, wings, etc. I did good at first. And then I just gave in. I didn't go overboard - but I was definitely outside of my point limits, particularly with the cheese. I just can't turn cheese down. It's practically an obsession....forget Halo Burger, 7 days without cheese for Erin would make one (me) weak.
The results on the scale were to be expected: no loss. Of course I was disappointed, but to me, it was still progress. I was able to keep myself in check for the rest of the week and didn't try to make excuses for myself. Hopefully, next week will be better.
One thing that is totally bad for me I've discovered, is alcohol. Anyone who knows me, knows that I am not a big drinker. I'm a social drinker - usually when out with the girls after a long week or out for a leisurely dinner. But considering I now have to calculate points on any type of alcohol - beer, wine, liquor, etc - it's just not worth it to me. I would much rather take the 2 points that a can of light beer is and have a snack instead. Alcohol is purely empty calories. Of course it has always been - but I am seeing the light now. :)
