I really don't feel like smiling anymore

Please note - the title of this post is related to the song I'm currently listening to. I really do feel like smiling. As Buddy the Elf says, "smiling is my favorite!"

My dad is home. It's funny how you can not see someone for 5 months, but you don't skip a beat. We sat around in Che & Jeana's backyard last night and just watched the boys play and eat dinner. More than anything, those are the summer days I love...sitting out on the deck with the boys playing and talking - just enjoying the warmth and the company of family. We don't talk about much - it's mostly just listening to ths0.e boys (Chase!) jabber and have a good time - but it's time spent with my brothers and my dad and stepmom.

On Monday we had a gathering for my grandma's 74th birthday. We aren't a huge family about birthdays and celebrating each one. But considering my grandma was diagnosed with breast cancer late last year, celebrating her 74th birthday was necessary...and luckily, she acted relatively normal and complain-free for the day.

I have decided that I am not the friendliest of people when you come into my turf. I have concluded that I am not the most warm or welcoming person when you are new to me and my environment. My God, I sound like a dog! But really - - - it's a bit difficult for me to get to know a new person and to allow them to get to know me. If I could consume alcohol at all times, this would certainly not be the case...but alas, I cannot. What a perfect world that would be (I kid, I kid.)

Perhaps I have more to write about. But I don't. And I don't want to. So there.
