Sweetie & honey are both terms of endearment. But when are you too old to be called those things by a complete stranger? When I was 17 it was cute. When I was 22 it was heartwarming. I'm 27 now...why do you still call me this? Like the lady at McDonalds last week. She couldn't have been that much older than me, but she continued to call me "sweetie" as I paid her and she gave me my food. (Which by the way I am now holding a grudge against her because she gave me a sweetened tea which I hate, rather than the unsweetened that I had requested...) The woman who took my $$ when I paid for gas today called me honey. Do I really look that young? Sure, I might look young enough to get carded every now & again (which by the way, I like you people who ask to see my ID) but do I look THAT young? I have gray hairs and what I swear are the beginning of crows feet. I'm just sayin'...
I have come to conclude that the 16th - the 29th of January are officially my "getting the hell poked out of me days." Why, you ask?
16th - I gave blood. I saved a life. But I felt like hell afterward; I think it's because I'm a wimp.
19th - Had ultrasound #5 in the course of the past year. Once again it was very, very painful...but I did it!
20th - Teeth cleaned (I'm a good brusher!) and had 2 cavities filled.
28th - Physical with Dr...YUCK. There is a reason I have been putting this off. It would still be put off, had she not brought it up. Damn her & her MD trickery.
29th - Getting an old filling refilled.
So over the course of 13 days, I will get poked at least 6 times with needles, prodded at least 5 times and what will I have to show for it? Shiny teeth, I suppose. And tooth colored fillings. The dental assistant lady asked me today if I wanted tooth colored fillings because I had concerns about the mercury used in the silver ones. Wow, I guess that is a good thought. Too bad that is not a thought that occured to me in spending $110 on two white cavities. I don't want to be a mouth full of metal! If I wanted that, I would just get braces again.
Last night we celebrated Chase James' 4th birthday. My bro & sis-in-law took him, Matthew, myself & my grandma to dinner at SeƱor Lucky's to celebrate. We knew Chase would not like the sombrero, so we told him to hold the sombrero but to bring out the ice cream and sing to him. Yeah, he was NOT having that. He slipped under the table & would not come out, as soon as he saw them coming. It was hilarious! Poor guy, at only 4 years old he's already bashful.
We have a new president as of today. I am so geeked about that. Really though, I'm just geeked about Sasha Obama - how cool would it be to be 7 and live in the White House? Oh, and she's pretty darn cute on top of that too. :)
