Why am I not a genius? Okay, don’t answer that; mostly on account of I’m afraid of what responses might be. Yes, my mother smoked & drank while I was in the womb. I’m not kidding either – supposedly they didn’t know it was bad back then…that’s what she claims. I guess I should be happy she wasn’t doing hardcore drugs.
I so should have invented the Snugie. I’m practically sitting here with my chin on my desk thinking “someone seriously invented that?” I’ve been hearing about it in various places lately and wondered what the hell it is. Now I know. And I’m flabbergasted that someone actually got a patent and is making money off of a blanket with sleeves.
My invention? It would be a nose warmer. I have this thing where when I’m cuddled up on the couch (in a blanket sans sleeves, thank you) my nose gets way cold. It’s like when your feet are cold and you have socks on them. But what do you put on your nose to warm it up? If I’m watching tv, I don’t want to cover my face. If I’m taking a nap, I don’t like to have the blanket over my head – I just don’t like that. I’m not sure, but that probably has something to do with older brothers and their flatulence when I was a child. Maybe I could invent a fleece eye patch of sorts, but for the nose. You would put it over your ears like glasses and it would have nose holes. I’ll get back to you on that.
I had a fab weekend with some of my favorite people this past weekend. Reunited with old friends, hung out with a friend & her son, whom I don’t see nearly enough, had a 3 hour lunch on UMF time with one of my favorite people in the whole world, and spent time with Ja’net like I do on most weekends. It reminds me how lucky I am to have friendships that are true, solid and full of love & laughter.
I bought a Wii Fit this past weekend. It so wasn’t in the budget after not getting paid for 38 days, but there was only 1 at Target when I went Sunday afternoon. It was almost mocking me for walking by and not buying it. I had to buy it. I plunked down $90 on something that I just read an article on and it basically says, “you’ll love it and use it for a month and then like every other exercise fad, it will be collecting dust shortly thereafter.” Apparently, that author did not know me:
---I was once quite faithful at doing a Denise Austin workout DVD in my senior year at WMU. But then I moved back home after graduation and in the move the exercise ball I exercised on popped. There went that plan.
---I did Weight Watchers around the same time as above and did very well – lost quite a bit of weight. But then I realized I was a poor college student and couldn’t afford to pay for the necessary items at the grocery store.
---I bought a step about a year ago to do step aerobics. It even came with a workout DVD. I think I used it for like 10 minutes one time, and it has since been in my closet. Collecting dust.
---I bought a Pilates DVD. I’m quite sure I opened it, but that’s about as far as I got.
So Mr. Wii Fit Writerman, you may be right in that I’ll use it for a month and then it will collect dust. But there is definitely a chance that I won’t lose it that long. Or there is the chance that I’ll use the crap out of it and I’ll laugh in your face like Dr. Evil: “moo-ah-ah-ah!”
Seriously though, I am on a weight loss mission. And I’m not doing it Valerie Bertenelli or Anna Nicole Smith style. I’m doing it au natural, yo. What does that mean? Prepare yourself for whining, complaining & blogirific tears.
Oh, and on that note: my abs and calves hurt. Damn Wii Fit hulahooping.
