So today is my first day off in like...months. In my former position (the one I'm holding for another week - yeehaw!) I only got 2.2 weeks vacation a year. I know, some of you are like "hey, that's not bad." Buuuuuuuut, in my new position, I now get 5 weeks of vacation a year. So, that means I don't need to horde all of it for a trip to Texas or a long weekend. I can take a few days here, a few days there and even save up a week to take a nice break from work at home if I want to. It makes me think of my days when I was on sick leave after my surgery. At first, I was bored out of my mind. But then a routine set in, and I did not want to go back to work. You would think that 6 weeks at home would be terribly boring, but it was amazing. I mean, I was still getting paid my salary to stay home and watch tv. But, I will be the first to say that the next time I take 6 weeks off, it will hopefully be because of something better than having surgery, if you know what I mean.
My nephew Roman stayed the night with me last night and he is currently in the bathroom...suppposedly bathing. I don't hear the water running anymore, and all I hear is him hitting something...probably fake drumming the side of the bathtub. He needs to hurry his butt up, we've got things to do! It's kind of funny because he is at that age now (11) where you throw his towel in the bathroom and you need to get out. He left the door open while he was going #1, so I dropped his towel off. He like turned away from me while peeing so I wouldn't see his junk. He is getting older now - but it's odd to think this little guy whose hair I was just washing a few years ago, is now that old. And by the way, I STILL have to remind him to wash his hair. Ugh, I cannot stand it when kids take a bath and don't wash their hair! Maybe it's because of my naturally curly hair, I could never get away with doing that. One time in 6th grade, I don't remember if I just didn't brush my hair well or what...but I literally had this big mess of a mat at the top of my head. It was like a mini-dreadlock.
Tonight my friends and I are going to go see Eddie Money at DTE. Am I a huge Eddie Money fan? Not so much. Am I looking forward to tailgating beforehand and singing along with his songs? Absolutely! That's one thing I will totally credit my parents for - they rounded me well musically. I can sing Eddie Money lyrics almost as well as I can Kanye West. (: Anyway, it should be a fun night.
Roman is now howling in the bathtub. It's time to push that rear into gear!
