I don't do being treated in a way that I do not deserve. If I'm wrong, I will tell you I'm wrong. I will apologize, I will do what I have to do to make it better. It might not be immediately and it might not be without a ton of thinking if apologizing is the right thing to do... but eventually, it gets done.
The point in this blog has and will always be to talk about my life and to keep record of what is going on in my life. Because more likely than not, 3 years from now I won't remember the time I took quarters out at Michigan's Adventure to feed the fish. And when I took the quarters out and told Chase what we were going to do he said, "fish eat quarters?" I laughed so hard with that one, and had to find my composure to tell him that I was buying fish food with the quarters. With everything that happens in day to day life, I may not always recall those special moments or memories that made me smile. Even now that my ovary pains are somewhat subsiding, it's interesting to look back on this blog and see how much I struggled over the past 2 years. Someday I will (hopefully) be able to look back on this blog and remember the hardships my family felt with 3 cancer diagnosis' in 2 years, and praise God that we all got through it.
If you read this blog, I am grateful for you. I am grateful that you return to read it, that you care about what I have to say or what my days consist of. But on the same token, if you don't care, then I'm not offended if you choose not to return or if you could care less what I have to say. That's what public blogs are about. I have many of them I read on a day-to-day basis that bring me entertainment.
I was accused recently of violating someone's privacy with this blog. I suppose I never looked at it that way, but I can admit that by posting pictures of anyone other than me, telling stories that involve other people than myself, I very well could be violating someone else's privacy. So, when this was brought to my attention, I took care of the matter immediately and deleted anything and everything that had to do with those persons. I never questioned it, I never denied it, nothing. I rightfully accepted it and took care of it. The bottom line is that I did what I had to do to make it right.
In turn, I was essentially written out of this person's life. Extreme? Yes. Disappointing? Yes. Right? No. I wasn't sure that we could get over the hurdle or that things would ever be the way they had prior to the whole blog incident. But I did what I thought I had to do to make it right. I eventually ended up reaching out to this person, reiterating my sincere regret and telling them that I missed them and didn't want it to be this way.
I was responded to and told by them to never contact that person again. Extreme? Yes. Disappointing? Yes. Right? I don't know. I can't change peoples minds. I can't take back what has happened. All I can do is look ahead and work on getting over it.
So, I decided since things were ending on such a sour note, I was going to be the one to ask for things back that I had left/lent the family in my three year involvement with them. Since I was asked to not contact them mail/email/telephone/text/personal contact, I decided to be snotty about it and ask them to mail it to me in campus mail so that they wouldn't have to deal with the "threat" of me having their home address. What did I end up receiving in the mail today? A certified package from her bro-in-laws LAW office along with a letter that says all future correspondence must go through him.
Ummmm, was that really necessary? It's a bit crazy if you ask me. It's a bit extreme, not necessary, degrading and ridiculous on top of that. So I got my stuff back, and I'm done with it.
Unfortunately, 3 years of memories don't shred as easily as the picture of their family that i shredded (stereotypical, but true) or the letter from the lawyer. At this point, I'm just pissed. I did what I thought was right, I tried to repair it and/or end it on a good note. They weren't having that and there is nothing more I can do.
Moving on, and UP.

Some people are idiots. Accept it and move on. They're not worth your time and tears if they're okay with treating you in this fashion.
ReplyDeleteJust my opinion.
Thanks, Krista. It's an opinion I totally agree with and needed to hear :)
