The story of 4D

This is me & Chase at Sea World in San Antonio, Texas.  During our time at Sea World, we decided to go see this pirates movie which advertised it was 4D.  I had never seen a 3D move, let alone 4D, so I was intrigued and the boys were really excited to see the movie.

We get into the theatre and Chase is all geeked & we are posing for pictures with our goofy 4D glasses on.  I noticed that the seats in front of us each have 2 little metal holes in them and the top of the seat looks wet.  I begin to ponder if we are going to get wet with this production, but don't think much of it.  (By the way, Chase's lips in the pic above crack me up!)  The movie starts and he's laughing and having a good time.   I'm pretty amused because the 3D effects are super cool.  When the cannon goes off, you see smoke - when the bees are coming, they look they are going to fly right into you.  Neat.

Not so neat to Chase.  At one point, a crab falls into a hole a pirate is hiding in and you suddenly feel little swats at your ankles.  I cracked up because it scared me.   Chase on the other hand, freaked out and started getting whiny.  Anyone who knows Chase can tell you he is a daredevil & generally not a grumpy kid.  He cuddles in kind of close to me, but stays in his own seat.  Next up, a swarm of bees comes out and like I said they look like they are going to fly right into you.  To add to this, your chair and armrest starts vibrating.  I'm again laughing but Chase gets really upset and says "I want my mommy!"  I convinced him he was okay and to stay amidst his protests to watch the rest of his show.  He did not enjoy it one bit.

We get out of the theatre and I see out in the daylight that he is crying real tears!  I asked him why he's so upset and he says "I got stung by a bee!"  He thought the vibrations was a real sting!  He even pointed to the place on his hand where he got stung!  It was so funny :)

Now we ask him where he got stung and I think we finally convinced him that he didn't.  It sure was fun teasing him in the mean time!  But, part of me thinks we won't be able to convince him to go to a 3D movie again anytime soon! :)
