Those Duggar people had their 18th child today. And they are already contemplating their 19th. Seriously, why does she even need c-sections? Shouldn't they just fall out at this point? I praise them for being a hardworking family who doesn't count on others to provide for their family. However, is it really necessary to have 18 children? Whose names all start with 'J'? I was over at Benita's with five the other night. I cannot even imagine multiplying that by practically FOUR!
Tonight I was watching "Jon & Kate Plus 8" On Demand. I try to catch up on that show when there, since I don't have cable. I just love that show & their kids - they are so stinkin' cute and say the funniest things. You're probably thinking, "why does she think it's "cute" to have 8 kids but ridiculous to have 18?" It's a little thing called fertility, y'all.
Kate Gosselin of Jon & Kate Plus 8 has polycystic ovary syndrome. Guess who else has that? Ding-ding-ding! ME! Kate had to go to extreme measures to have her 8 children. Surely she didn't go in expecting sextuplets, but she has dealt with it and loved those kids. At first I was like many others who thought she was a total biotch, but now respect her for holding order in that house. Can you even imagine?! And honestly, I have to see myself a little in her, because there is a chance I may struggle with fertility someday. I may be cursing myself, but I would rather know the love of 8 children, than to never carry a child of my own.
Then you have the Duggar's. She has never once had to "try" to have a baby, it's just happened, 18 times now (16 pregnancies, I think). What is heartbreak and devastating to one person, comes so easily to another. I realize God has a plan for all of us, but the imbalance is pretty nonsensical. I read the blog of this woman named Adrienne who has suffered 5 miscarriages, adopted an infant from Russia and was hours from taking a newborn home from the hospital, when the mother decided she wanted to mother the child herself. Her story is heartwrenching.
I'm pretty much talking in circles. It just seems so cruel when one woman can have the gift of giving birth to like 6 times the average family size, and another one cannot carry a baby for the life of her. I pray that I will never know the heartache of the latter. It might be selfish, but it's me.
